When should I exercise?, is one question that is always asked by Sri Lankan ladies who wish to shed pounds. Are you one of these people who exercise in the early morning, before breakfast? And what about exercising after work, an evening workout? What should the ideal time to be active be and is simply going anyway enough? Honestly, there’s some truth to it because there is a time at which it does matter, albeit not as dramatically as most think. This guide explains exactly what the science says about the best times to do your workout for fat burning and then shows you how to tailor the time to your lifestyle, body type and timetable as a Sri Lankan woman.

Back at the start of the term, why not try to build up some healthy routines as morning workouts?

Exercise during the morning and it is one of the best ways to burn stored body fat, particularly working out before breakfast. We know that when a person wakes up in the morning, he or she has not taken anything for seven and a half to nine hours. Your blood sugar is low and your insulin is at its lowest level during the day. When this happens, your body doesn’t have as many carbohydrates to use as fuel to sustain itself and it reaches its stored fat reserves with a lot less hesitation. Numerous studies have demonstrated that exercising in a fasted state – exercising before your first meal – yields a much greater fat oxidation than exercising after eating. For Sri Lankan women, this factor is particularly relevant because healthier nutritional options like extra virgin organic oil, whole grains from brown rice and short eats, which provide energy from simple carbohydrates, are not commonly consumed, and instead are replaced with food from refined carbohydrates, meaning insulin levels remain high after eating and the retained fat on the body is less easily accessible during exercise.

In addition to burning fat, there are many other benefits to getting in a morning workout. Exercise in the morning and women stick to it more than those who try to exercise later in the day. The afternoon and evening are brimming with family duties, kitchen chores, work commitments and fatigue. Morning exercise occurs prior to any constraints being available. It helps to make the day brighter, cheer up about the day, improve mental concentration, and increase the effects of productivity throughout the day following your session.

30 – 45 minutes of walking or 20 minutes of HIIT in the morning, before breakfast, is the best fat loss routine for the day. Hydrate with 1 glass of water ahead of time. Have a protein-rich breakfast after the workout: Two boiled eggs with roti or red rice congee, fish with coconut sambol. This will burn the maximum amount of fat while aiding in the recovery of muscles straight after the exercise.

Exercise is the answer to better sleep, but these workouts are best at night

However, there are legitimate reasons to believe that you can exercise in the evening without being contradicted. Body temperature reaches its peak from late afternoon to early evening (usually between 4 pm and 7 pm). Now your muscles are more relaxed, your reaction time is quicker, your lungs are marginally larger and how hard your body feels to work will be reduced. In terms of performance, you’ll be at your peak in the evening, and you will be able to work harder, longer, with better form and less odds of injury. From a purely athletic point of view, the night is actually the better time for the woman who wants to build strength, improve fitness performance, or would rather train hard.

Exercising in the evening is also a great way to relieve stress. With evening exercise, you directly reduce cortisol levels, a stress hormone that directly triggers belly fat storage, and it passes a really long, difficult day of labor and household duties. Stress can easily become a daily companion for many Sri Lankan women, and an evening hour of Zumba or a walking class not only helps reduce that stress, but can burn calories and help shed pounds as well. Along with that evening workout, cortisol drop will help you sleep more deeply and better, another crucial component of weight loss and a flatter tummy.

The biggest caution with evening exercise is that it might be stimulating to certain women, and diminish their capacity to fall asleep within two hours following exercise. If you find that you are not getting good sleep after exercise, then consider changing your workout time to late afternoon or doing an early morning workout.

What Matters Most Is Consistency, And Not Time

There is one thing in particular clear in the research. Mornings are a cool start, but it’s the actual time when you will be physically active on a consistent day-in, day-out basis without skipping a beat, when weight loss is best. 3 perfect fasted exercises per month are not as effective as 3 simple 30-minute walks every day for a month! Logical preparation is always better than perfect timing. For those who are morning exercise enthusiasts, work out in the morning. If evenings are more realistically designed to meet family and work commitments, engage in exercise during the evening. The two are pretty comparable in terms of fat loss, so just remember the most important thing is consistency and not the watch on the wall!

The Right Routine is celebrated by women across Sri Lanka. The Right Routine is sung by women throughout Sri Lanka

Most Sri Lankan women will find a mixed system the best approach. Get 30 minutes of brisk walking, preferably in the morning, at least 4 times a week, on an empty stomach, to maximize fat burn. See two evenings of strength training or Zumba for fitness and stress relief. Make both sessions simple, affordable, and local. Make no excuses for it standing between you and attending. Do this in combination with red rice rather than white rice, cutting back on sugar, your daily tea service and 8 glasses of water daily. Available for the whole four weeks, this easy and budget-friendly tandem effect will yield noticeable and impactful results in your body’s silhouette, your vitality, and your assurance, whatever the time might be on the clock when you lace up your shoes each day.
