Why Fiber More Than Just to Digest?

The majority of us believe that fiber is only beneficial for easy digestion or constipation prevention. However, recent studies reveal that fiber is actually capable of making you feel more energetic during the day.

By consuming fiber-rich foods, we are not only doing our stomach a favor by enabling it to do its job easily, but also the gut bacteria in our body to remain healthy. These commensal bacteria produce tiny molecules that make our body’s energy producers (so-called mitochondria) more efficient.

Then, in case you frequently experience fatigue or energy loss, it is possible that your diet just requires more fiber.

How Fiber Makes You Feel Energetic

This is what will happen when you increase your daily intake of fiber:

  • Nourishes your intestinal microflora – The beneficial bacteria of the stomach adore fiber! When they decompose it, they form a substance known as butyrate, which assists your body in generating constant energy.
  • Balances out fatigue and swelling- Butyrate shields your intestines, shutting out the bad germs. It translates to reduced fatigue and fewer digestive problems.
  • Enhances mood and concentration – A healthy gut speaks to your brain and helps you to stay calm, positive, and focused.
  • Stabilizes blood sugar levels –Fiber lowers the rate of sugar uptake, providing you with sustained energy rather than an explosion of energy after eating.

You are made lighter in the body when you eat this way, and your strength is not up and down all day.

Easy Ways for Sri Lankans to Eat More Fiber

There is no need to spend a lot of money on buying foreign food; the vast majority of food in Sri Lanka already contains fiber choices! All you have to do is make minor day-to-day decisions:

Select Traditional Whole Foods

  • Use red rice in place of white rice or kuruluthuda rice.
  • Add gotukola sambol, mallung, or murunga leaves to your plate.
  • Eat parippu ( dhal curry) or green gram, or cowpea curry more frequently.

Enjoy Local Fruits

  • Eat bananas (ambu, kolikuttu), papaya, guava, mango, and wood apple, all of high fiber content.
  • Use fruits as snacks rather than biscuits or chips.

Add Nuts & Seeds

  • You can put grated coconut, flaxseeds, or sesame seeds into your sambol or breakfast oats.
  • Have a few roasted peanuts as an evening snack.

Try Traditional Salads and Hoppers

  • Have raw salads (carrots, beets, greens, etc.) at lunch.
  • Seize kurakkan roti, or string hoppers, or pittu; they are saturated with natural fibers.

Drink Enough Water

  • Increase in fiber when you eat should be accompanied by plenty of water. It can help your organism absorb it easily and prevent bloating and discomfort.

Symptoms of a Lack of Fiber in Your Diet

Your body may be calling out to you to eat more fiber:

  • You even feel exhausted after a meal.
  • In fact, you frequently get bowel movements or constipation.
  • You are bloated or heavy after eating.
  • You are fond of snacks between meals, not after meals.

Fiber Daily Consumption Tips

Change will not happen in the middle of the night! And this is where you can begin safely:

  • Take one additional fiber food daily, perhaps a handful of boiled cowpea or a portion of grated carrot.
  • Once a week, replace your white rice with red rice or kurakkan roti.
  • Consume the fruit with skin when you can, such as apples and guavas.
  • Begin your day by drinking oats, porridge, or kurakkan pittu.
  • Carry a piece of fruit or a nut bar when attending school, work, or tuition.

These minor routines can aid in a gradual process of acclimatization of your body and prolong the gains.
